The Campus Safety Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and visitors by utilizing a closed-circuit television system and serving as a dispatcher when necessary. This position requires a vigilant security professional to oversee campus property, manage alarm systems, provide assistance to guests, and report any unusual activities.

The ideal candidate will be tasked with overseeing surveillance systems and offering appropriate guidance to visitors and members of the campus community. Responsibilities include monitoring fire and security alarm systems, with the capability to activate or deactivate them as required. Additional duties encompass answering safety-related phone calls, assisting walk-in inquiries with information and directions, and occasionally fulfilling receptionist duties. The candidate will also manage officer equipment logs, conduct record checks, and dispatch officers for security patrols, emergencies, and various other situations. This role involves issuing permits and identification cards to campus personnel, monitoring weather conditions, making necessary notifications, and alerting the campus community during emergencies.

Requirements

A High School Diploma and/or GED is required for this position. The ideal candidate should demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, and Jenzabar. Strong computer skills are essential for utilizing various technologies. The candidate must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operating instructions, and procedural manuals. Additionally, they should be capable of composing routine reports and correspondence and effectively communicating before groups of customers or employees within the organization. Furthermore, the candidate should possess the ability to apply common sense understanding to execute instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form and to resolve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
