Financial Analysis Intern

Key Responsibilities:
As an Accounting Analyst Intern, you will be responsible for executing month-end activities including journal entries, labor and expense assessments, sales and cost of goods sold analysis, as well as balance sheet account reconciliations.

Your role will involve managing accounting tasks related to inventory receipt confirmations and reviewing accounts payable data, along with providing general office support. You will verify inventory receipt data against packing lists and organize relevant documentation. Additionally, you will file accounts payable invoices and their supporting materials, ensuring the accuracy of purchased material standard costs.

Inventory Management:
Assist in co-chairing quarterly physical inventory counts and the annual physical inventory of fixed assets, including tagging as necessary. You will also monitor inventory value reports for discrepancies and process adjustments as required.

Month-End Closing Duties:
Complete essential month-end accounting close tasks such as journal entries, reviewing health insurance, labor analysis, and intercompany charges. Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.

Additional Responsibilities:
Engage in growth and cross-training opportunities by supporting payroll processes within the plant, acting as a liaison between employees and the payroll department regarding time, supplemental pay, and garnishments. Prepare internal payroll reports, including overtime and other relevant data. Support internal and external audit requests and reporting, as well as assist with special requests and reports as needed. Collaborate with Production Control and Manufacturing to support BOM audits and participate in BOM cost analysis.

Qualifications:
Education:
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Experience:
A minimum of four (4) years of experience in an accounting role within a manufacturing setting is essential.

Skills:
Proficiency in basic cost accounting, business finance, standard costing, and inventory valuation is necessary. A solid understanding of the interrelationships between cost accounting and data processing is required, along with a general knowledge of basic accounting principles. You should be capable of maintaining financial files, records, and logs, particularly using Excel spreadsheets. The ability to research and compile data for reports and summaries is also crucial.

Language Proficiency:
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are essential; knowledge of Japanese or Spanish is advantageous.

Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required, along with experience in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., Oracle) being beneficial but not mandatory. A solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other computer applications is also expected.

Work Environment:
The position is primarily in an open office environment with a moderate noise level. Travel requirements are minimal, at 0-5%.
