The Insurance Claims Specialist will be responsible for managing Travel Insurance Claims. An active adjuster's license from New York state is mandatory, and possessing licenses from multiple states is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough investigations, assessments, and resolutions of claims, utilizing both technical expertise and interpersonal skills to ensure fair and timely outcomes, while contributing to a lower loss ratio.
  • Adjust or recommend reserves to guarantee that reserve activities align with corporate guidelines.
  • Handle complex claims with significant exposure, ensuring high-quality service throughout the claims process.
  • Process and authorize claims payments within established authority limits.
  • Review claims processed by insurance adjusters, further investigating any questionable claims to determine payment authorization.
  • Verify and scrutinize data utilized in claims settlements to confirm validity and adherence to company protocols.
  • Document claim payments, reserves, and new claims in the computer system, ensuring comprehensive and clear file documentation.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel on claims that necessitate litigation.
  • Engage with claimants, medical professionals, or employers to gather additional information as needed.
  • Maintain organized claim files, including records of settled claims and an inventory of claims needing detailed analysis.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • Active New York state adjuster's license is essential; multiple state licenses are a plus.
  • Proficient in analytical tools, document management, and database query software.
  • Skilled in MS Office applications.
  • Two to four years of relevant work experience.
  • Exceptional attention to detail is crucial.
  • Strong customer service and communication abilities.
  • General understanding of state and national regulations.
  • Familiarity with medical and legal terminology.
