We are seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to join our team at Sorenson Communications. As a Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a critical role in facilitating communication between Deaf and hearing individuals through our Video Relay Service (VRS).
Job Summary:The successful candidate will have excellent interpreting skills, a strong understanding of American Sign Language (ASL), and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You will be responsible for interpreting between ASL and spoken English, maintaining compliance with national, state, and local licensure and certification requirements, and adhering to Sorenson standards and policies.
Responsibilities:- Effectively interpret between ASL and spoken English
- Maintain compliance with national, state, and local licensure and certification requirements
- Demonstrate full compliance with Sorenson standards and policies, FCC regulations, and the RID Code of Professional Conduct
- Accurately complete assigned tasks, projects, and paperwork promptly and within approved guidelines
- Work effectively in a team environment, receiving support from and providing support to colleagues
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities in ASL
- Ability to pass our required skills assessment
- A high school diploma or GED
- An associate's or bachelor's degree (preferred, but not required)
- Interpreter certification
- 3 years' experience working as an interpreter (preferred, but not required)
