Job Summary and Qualifications

The Neonatal Respiratory Therapist is responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care tailored to the specific needs of our department and in accordance with state and specialty standards.

As an integral member of the patient care team, you will conduct various diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures while monitoring patients on both invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.


Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct and document thorough patient assessments, including breath sounds and airway integrity.
- Perform diagnostic procedures to assess the necessity and effectiveness of respiratory therapy.
- Administer respiratory care therapies, such as oxygen delivery and aerosol treatments.
- Assist in the placement of artificial airways and manage mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor patient responses to therapies and communicate with providers as necessary.
- Support the transportation of patients requiring ventilatory assistance.
- Respond to emergency situations, ensuring airway security and adequate ventilation during resuscitation efforts.

Qualifications:
- Neonate Resuscitation certification required within 60 days of employment.
- STABLE certification required within 60 months of employment.
- State Registered Respiratory Therapist credentials.
- Experience in a Level 3 NICU setting.
- Associate Degree in a relevant field.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required within 30 days of employment.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 60 days of employment.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within 60 days of employment.
