Adolescent Support Specialist Position
LSF is seeking dedicated Adolescent Support Specialists who are committed to positively impacting the lives of vulnerable youth residing in our care facilities. We require individuals who can manage challenging behaviors while fostering a nurturing environment.
Available Shifts: 2PM-10PM
(Candidates must be available every weekend Fri.-Sun., with weekdays off).
Compensation: $18.00
Role & Contribution:
In this position, as an Adolescent Support Specialist, you will actively engage with young residents, ensuring their safety, well-being, and involvement in various activities.
The selected individuals will work with teenage boys and girls exhibiting challenging behaviors due to their past experiences. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with youth impacted by neglect, abuse, and trauma, embracing a mentorship role to facilitate positive transformations in their lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create a supportive atmosphere for youth.
- Assist with daily routines including meals, hygiene, and medication management.
- Organize recreational and social activities.
- Communicate effectively with team members regarding behavioral concerns and resident needs.
- Participate in the implementation and monitoring of client case plans.
- Attend training sessions and staff meetings.
- Oversee chores and maintain cleanliness in the residential environment.
- Manage emergencies and critical incidents.
- Conduct group discussions to address concerns and provide guidance on appropriate behavior.
- Document and monitor the behavior and needs of adolescents.
- Interact professionally with external agencies and the public, providing accurate and timely information.
Principal Duties:
- Report to the Program Coordinator.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues and administrators.
- Ensure quality care and safety of residents.
- Adhere to licensing and quality standards set by regulatory bodies.
- Manage resident behavior during activities.
- Comply with agency policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Physical Requirements:
- High energy levels.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and cleaning.
- Transport youth and participate in recreational outings.
- CPR/First Aid and crisis intervention certification.
- Valid Florida driver's license and active insurance.
Education/Experience:
- Preferably an Associate's Degree in Human Services.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Minimum one year experience working with youth, preferably in a structured environment.
Skills/Abilities:
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Dependable, discreet, and possess good judgment.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
