Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Osceola County, FL. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will provide high-quality nursing care to inmate patients in a Correctional Facility.

Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse will administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques to promote the physical and mental health of the inmate population. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of normal nursing practices and be able to work with people from all walks of life.

Responsibilities
  • Perform nursing services, such as obtaining vital signs, wound care, IV therapy, collecting blood, urine, sputum and stool specimens, respond to emergencies in the Facility, and gathering other subjective and objective data from patients to insure needs are met in accordance with clinical guidelines, as well as duties imposed by the State and Federal laws and regulations and OCCD administrative procedures.
  • Accurately document all data obtained, treatments, specimens collected and sent for processing as well as any other patient encounter. Administer all medications and recording such on-medication administration record. Order medications and supplies from the pharmacy and suppliers. Evaluate patients upon request.
  • Verify all orders from the medical records were properly transposed to the orders/tasks within the electronic medical record and medication administration record. Maintain electronic medical record files on all inmates. File all necessary medical reports in the patient's medical record.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must have Florida LPN license.
  • Current hands-on CPR certification from American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI).
  • Working knowledge of normal nursing practices.
  • Ability to accurately follow complex medical orders.
  • Knowledge of all applicable medical treatments and common medications administered within a corrections facility.
