POSITION TITLE:
Lead Process Automation Engineer

COMPENSATION RANGE:
$100,700 - $134,300

Factors such as individual experience, skills, and capabilities will determine the final placement within the pay scale. Additional variable compensation may offer further financial incentives. This role is eligible for participation in the company's short-term incentive program.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:


The Lead Process Automation Engineer plays a crucial role in the Maintenance and Engineering Department, directly reporting to the Engineering Manager.

Your responsibilities will include designing and executing automation strategies to enhance both new and existing processes, focusing on efficiency improvements, variability reduction, adherence to environmental and safety standards, and ensuring equipment reliability.

You will select and endorse hardware and software solutions for new automation initiatives.
Consider the business ramifications of applying technology within the current and future manufacturing landscape.
Key stakeholders include plant operators, supervisors, technical teams, and maintenance staff.
Provide training for operators and maintenance teams on new automation functionalities.
Support technical teams in process enhancement initiatives.
Assist in troubleshooting and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) efforts.
Ensure business continuity of automation systems through proper documentation, training, and change management processes.
Share weekend and off-hour support responsibilities for all automation needs.
Manage equipment obsolescence strategies to ensure the reliability of process control systems.
Promote and share best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A degree in Engineering or a related technical field is required, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in process automation engineering. Experience in other engineering roles may also be considered.
Experience in the paper manufacturing sector is preferred.
Proficiency in control loop tuning, performance evaluation tools, and process data management systems (e.g., Entech, OSISoft PI, and Parcview) is essential.
Experience coordinating and implementing new and upgraded Distributed Control Systems (DCS) is required.

Familiarity with DCS platforms such as Siemens APACS with ProcessSuite Graphics, Win CC Graphics, Siemens PCS, and Allen Bradley PLC-5/SLC-500 with RSView/PanelView HMI is preferred.

Knowledge of DCS platforms like Siemens DRC and experience with control strategies for Recovery and Power Boilers, Steam/Gas Turbines, Power Generation, Pulping, and Chemical Recovery processes is advantageous.

Understanding of Continuous Digesters, Lime Kiln and Caustic Plants, Recovery and Power Boilers, Paper Machines, Power Generation, and Waste Water Treatment processes is desirable.
