Summary:

The Coding Quality Specialist will be responsible for ensuring accurate and compliant coding and billing practices across various healthcare settings.

This role requires expertise in ICD, CPT, and other coding systems, as well as strong analytical and communication skills.

The successful candidate will work closely with coding staff, leadership, and providers to develop and implement coding and documentation best practices.


Responsibilities:
*Perform coding and billing reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance
*Develop and implement coding and documentation training programs
*Participate in annual code updates and system upgrades
*Collaborate with coding staff, leadership, and providers to improve coding and documentation practices

Requirements:
  • Minimum of five years progressive inpatient and outpatient coding or coding review experience
  • Knowledge of AHA and CMS coding guidelines, CPT/HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM/PCS coding systems
  • PC proficiency and experience working with facility EMR, encoder, and other support software
  • Experience working in academic teaching and pediatric facilities

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Two-year associate degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Four-year bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred

Licenses and Certifications:
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) required
  • Clinical Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP) or Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) preferred
