Pharmacist (Part-Time)

Community Health Centers of the Central Coast is seeking a skilled and dedicated Pharmacist to join our team on a part-time basis.
Job Summary:Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Director, the Pharmacist will be responsible for dispensing pharmaceutical drugs, medical supplies, and prescriptions. The successful candidate will provide direct pharmaceutical services to healthcare professionals and patients, ensuring the highest quality of care possible.
Key Responsibilities:- Review and verify prescriptions issued by physicians or other authorized prescribers to ensure accuracy and safety.
- Enter patient data, prescribed medication, and costs into pharmacy files, charge systems, and inventory.
- Prepare and dispense medicines and preparations for patient use.
- Maintain custody of controlled substances and order/receive drugs, medicines, biologicals, and chemicals as needed.
- Account for stock of medications, controlled substances, and materials on hand to maintain an appropriate inventory level.
- Dispense prescriptions and chart orders in accordance with pharmacy laws of the State of California and Federal laws.
- Assist medical staff as a pharmaceutical consultant for individual patients, including choice of medication, dosage, strength, frequency, and method of administration.
- Monitor drug therapy, adjust doses based on individual patient responses, and collaborate with medical staff on issues related to drug therapy.
- Prepare pharmaceutical care plans for patients under their care.
- Provide in-service training programs for physicians, nursing, and pharmacy staff members on featured topics.
- Provide pharmacokinetic evaluations, assess and report adverse drug reactions, and evaluate outcomes of patient care.
- Provide drug information to patients and provide optimal cost-effective therapy using knowledge of pharmacology, understanding of disease states, and knowledge of available dosage forms.
- Collect and research data, use intuition and experience to complement data, and design work flows and procedures.
- Maintain a cooperative working relationship with staff, physicians, and patients.
- Demonstrate adherence to and observe all safety policies and procedures, inclusive of infection control rules and regulations.
- Demonstrate knowledge of domestic violence, child, and dependent abuse protocols.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and competence.
- Maintain and adhere to HIPAA, employee confidentiality, and privileged communications (patient, employee, and corporation).
- A college or university program certificate; B.S. Pharmacy or Pharm D is required.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, business periodicals, professional journals, and government regulations.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply statistical data to optimize medication management of individual patients.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Must be willing to have a flexible work schedule that may include evenings/weekends, and travel as needed.
