Our Neurosurgery division is actively seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to become part of our dedicated and skilled team.

Position Overview

This role involves delivering specialized healthcare services in both outpatient and acute care environments for various acute or chronic health issues within specific patient populations, adhering to established standards and practices.

Work Schedule

Full-Time Rotating Schedule

  • Nights
  • Weekends
  • Holidays

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and consult with new patients
  • Conduct follow-up appointments in the clinic
  • Assist in surgical procedures with some operating room exposure
  • Gather patient history and perform assessments through observation, interviews, and examinations. Order, conduct, and interpret diagnostic tests. Perform preventive health assessments, screenings, immunizations, and care.
  • Administer direct treatment and management of health conditions, utilizing prescriptive authority and making referrals to other healthcare professionals or community resources.
  • Educate and counsel patients and their families/caregivers regarding preventive health and wellness, treatment alternatives, and community resources.
  • Deliver care while promoting age and culture-appropriate informed choices, shared decision-making, and the right to self-determination.
  • Provide inpatient care, including preoperative, intra-operative, and post-operative services, as well as critical care and intensive care management.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to operate with minimal supervision. Must thrive in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate actions.

Additional Information

  • Minimum Required Education: Master's degree in Nursing and graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or a Physician Assistant with specialization in the relevant field.
  • Minimum Experience: Preferred 2 years of experience in the specified area of expertise.

Qualifications for Physician Assistants

  • Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies
  • Unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Colorado.
  • Physician Assistant Certification (PA-C) from the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required upon hire and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe all medications typically prescribed in the course of practice.
  • Eligible to provide reimbursable services and maintain provider status with Medicare and Medicaid.
  • Eligible to provide services without sanctions or exclusions from either the Health and Human Services/Office of Inspectors General (HHS/OIG) or the General Services Administration's (GSA) List of Parties Excluded from Federal Programs.
  • Unrestricted medical staff membership, with appropriate practice privileges.
  • Prescriptive authority as appropriate, per medical staff service privileging process.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
  • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification or must be obtained within one year from the date of hire.

Qualifications for Nurse Practitioners

  • Master's degree in Nursing and graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Nurse Practitioner Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or Nurse Practitioner Certification from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB) is required upon hire and must be maintained throughout employment.
