West Michigan Youth Ballet is a vibrant youth performance organization founded in Ada, Michigan. Established in 2007, we are dedicated to fostering a fun, inclusive, and collaborative environment. Our mission is to share our enthusiasm for classical ballet with the community, providing young dancers the chance to prepare and present full-length classical ballets under the guidance of professional choreographers. We host two major performances each year and offer a summer intensive program that connects aspiring dancers with industry professionals. Our organization is committed to ensuring that the community has transparent access to the visual arts, regardless of age or socioeconomic status.

Position Overview

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will report directly to the Board of Directors and will work closely with the Artistic Director to lead the organization effectively. The CEO will oversee the operational and financial dimensions of the organization, which include fundraising, marketing, financial management, human resources, and vendor partnerships. Additionally, the CEO may undertake special projects as assigned by the Board of Directors. The ideal candidate will possess strong business acumen, exceptional organizational skills, and outstanding written and verbal communication abilities, along with a collaborative management approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the administrative operations of the organization to execute strategic initiatives.
  • Support fundraising efforts, including grant writing.
  • Oversee marketing and promotional activities.
  • Assist community outreach committees in their initiatives.
  • Align with the artistic vision set forth by the Artistic Director.
  • Handle community relations, grant writing, fundraising, marketing, and both internal and external communications.
  • Supervise human resources, financial management, and administrative functions.

Administration

  • Collaborate with the Artistic Director, Committee Leaders, and Board of Directors.
  • Address concerns raised by parents and dancers.
  • Implement policies and procedures to standardize operations.
  • Develop and manage an employee benefits program.
  • Oversee relationships with external vendors.
  • Attend performances organized by WMYB.
  • Ensure the maintenance of the WMYB facility.

Development

  • Assist the Development Committee in executing its fundraising strategies and activities.
  • Identify and cultivate new donors and volunteers.
  • Enhance and expand the grant application process.

Financial Oversight

  • Provide comprehensive financial oversight for the organization.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Committee to establish and implement financial policies and procedures.
  • Work with the Finance Committee, Committee Leaders, and the Artistic Director to create an annual budget that aligns with the organization's objectives.

Marketing and Public Relations

  • Assist the Marketing Committee in developing and executing comprehensive marketing and branding strategies.
  • Help create programs aimed at increasing attendance at performances and intensives.
  • Act as a spokesperson for the Ballet alongside the Artistic Director.
  • Establish and maintain a cohesive online presence through the website and social media that reflects the organization's mission and vision.

Community Engagement

  • Support the Community Outreach Committee in designing and implementing outreach initiatives.
  • Secure necessary resources to facilitate outreach efforts.
  • Participate in and support outreach events.

Work Environment

The work environment includes primarily working from the WMYB facility with some flexibility. Availability on Sundays during the performance season is required.

Qualifications

  • Strong affinity for engaging with youth (ages 8-18).
  • Passion for the arts.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and guide teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in financial budgeting, planning, and tracking.
  • Effective project management skills, including planning, organizing, tracking, and delegating tasks.
  • Experience in data collection and reporting.
  • Background in marketing, campaigns, promotions, and advertising.
  • Ability to think strategically and plan for the future.
  • Familiarity with technology and social media platforms.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, or Finance is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of management experience.
  • Experience in a nonprofit, arts, or cultural organization is advantageous.

Job Type: Part-time

Compensation: $45,000.00 per year

Expected Hours: 32-35 hours per week
