POSITION SUMMARY:

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Ensure a safe environment for patients, colleagues, and oneself.
  • Verify patient identity through two forms of identification to guarantee the correct procedure is performed on the correct individual.
  • Conduct a 'time out' process before initiating any invasive procedures.
  • Implement ALARA principles to maintain radiation safety.
  • Be knowledgeable about the location and usage of emergency equipment and supplies.
  • Understand the Health First Emergency Kardex and associated responsibilities during emergency codes.
  • Participate in hurricane preparedness and fulfill responsibilities as a Health First associate.
  • Adhere to Infection Control policies and maintain aseptic and sterile techniques.
  • Document and communicate essential information accurately and effectively.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions promptly to the appropriate personnel.
  • Complete all necessary documentation accurately, including patient history and procedural consent.
  • Review exam orders thoroughly before conducting procedures.
  • Gather relevant patient history from various sources.
  • Execute procedure protocols to produce images that meet quality standards while complying with healthcare regulations.
  • Position patients appropriately and utilize suitable techniques.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in exam rooms and ensure equipment is ready for use.
  • Follow established image retrieval and filing processes.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and contribute suggestions for departmental enhancements.
  • Take on additional responsibilities to support departmental objectives.
  • Attend required staff meetings and sign off on meeting minutes as necessary.
  • Identify, prepare, and administer medications within the technologist's scope of practice as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Possess a valid Florida State License as a General Radiographer.
  • Hold current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (A.R.R.T.) or be eligible for registration.
  • Maintain a current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card.
  • Exhibit computer skills relevant to optimal technical performance.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Be available to report to the department within 30 minutes when on call.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to walk, bend, stoop, reach, and lift throughout the shift.
  • Capability to move, lift, or position patients as necessary.
  • Ability to push wheelchairs, stretchers, and beds.
  • Dependability and flexibility in covering required shifts.
  • Capacity to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted multiple times daily.
  • Ability to wear lead aprons for extended periods.
