Position Overview

The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Specialist is responsible for operating MRI machinery to capture detailed images of patients' anatomy for diagnostic evaluation. This role involves close collaboration with healthcare professionals to confirm the suitability of imaging studies and maintain comprehensive records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough pre-procedure screenings of patients.
  • Ensure that no metallic items are brought into the imaging area.
  • Prepare patients for examinations by accurately positioning them on the imaging table.
  • Input patient history and relevant information from the requisition provided by the Radiologist, focusing on the specific anatomical areas of interest.
  • Perform a variety of MRI procedures, including but not limited to abdominal, thoracic, neurological, and extremity imaging, as well as planning for sub-periosteal implants and radiation therapy.
  • Identify and promptly report any motor abnormalities in patients, such as fainting or discoloration, to the Radiologist.
  • Carry out minor repairs and regular calibration checks on the MRI equipment as needed.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned, with all tasks considered essential functions under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Qualifications

  • A diploma from a vocational or technical school is required.
  • A valid license to practice as a Radiologic Technologist in New York State is mandatory, along with current ARRT Radiology registration and any necessary specialized certifications, including MRI and Cat Scan certifications.
  • 1-3 years of relevant technical experience is required.
  • Preference will be given to Cat Scan technologists who can also perform general x-ray duties.

Work Schedule

Weekdays from 11 AM to 7 PM and every other weekend from 8 AM to 4 PM.

Salary Information

The salary range for this position is $57.13 to $67.03 per hour. This range represents a good faith estimate of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant at the time of this job advertisement and may be subject to change.
