About the Role

Whirlpool Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Senior Controls Engineer to join our team in Tulsa, OK. As a key member of our Engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing major manufacturing controls & automation systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and execute automation and controls projects, including new, replacement, and improvement of existing systems.
  • Provide day-to-day support of manufacturing and facility electrical systems and networks.
  • Utilize best practices, industrial standards, and common systems to support the overall competitive manufacturing initiative.
  • Participate in functional area plant meetings and related activities, representing the engineering team and assisting in improving the plant's performance goals.
  • Provide technical support, direction, and training to engineering and support personnel/skilled trades within the organization.
  • Investigate systems and equipment problems and provide technical assistance in problem resolution.
  • Develop cost estimates, investment forecasts, business cases, appropriation requests, and plans for project activity.
  • Utilize statistical methods for continuous improvement on manufacturing systems and processes.
  • Enforce safe work practices as the highest priority and implement objectives for ergonomics, health/safety, and housekeeping.
  • Maintain good working relationships with peers, hourly employees, management, supplier community, and interfaces with necessary support functions inside and outside of the plant.
  • Coordinate and communicate the development of changes to improve conditions for the fabrication, finish, assembly, and support processes.
  • Ensure long-term, cost-effective life cycles for manufacturing equipment and plant facilities.
  • Manage projects to minimize investment costs while providing manufacturing and facility systems at the lowest operating costs possible.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing controls & automation, including Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Human Machine Interface (HMI), and drives.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing solution development, design, and implementation.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing problem-solving and troubleshooting.
  • 5+ years of experience in developing complete controls solutions using Rockwell Automation hardware and software from concept to deployment.

Preferred Skills and Experiences

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Robotic experience: Yaskawa/Motoman, FANUC.
  • 5+ years of experience with Ethernet I/P controls networks.
  • Experience with Vision systems.
  • Knowledge of C, C++ programming.
  • Knowledge of SQL database systems, including queries and analysis.
