SUMMARY:

This role is a full-time exempt position, dedicated to supporting the Army National Guard's Mission Command Training Support Program (MCTSP). The Maneuver Subject Matter Expert (SME) will provide essential support to unit commanders and their staff, from battalion to division levels, through doctrinal workshops, hands-on training, and coaching during individual and collective training events at designated sites.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in current Army maneuver doctrines across various branches including Infantry, Armor, Engineer, and Aviation, while identifying emerging joint movement and maneuver strategies.
  • Serve as the primary trainer for key processes such as operations management, Army design methodology, information collection, and the development of decision support products.
  • Provide on-the-ground training support for Command Post of the Future (CPOF) and Command Post Computing Environment (CPCE).
  • Develop comprehensive Concept of Operations and Scheme of Maneuver documents, along with operational orders and directives to enhance training effectiveness.
  • Replicate higher headquarters functions for training audiences at the battalion through division levels, including Commander Update Briefs and Planning Working Groups.
  • Act as an expert in Live, Virtual, Constructive, and Gaming (LVC-G) training methodologies, including simulations and other training enablers.
  • Advise and train units during the planning and execution phases, including conducting After Action Reviews (AAR) for MCTSP-driven collective events.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute various training exercises, ensuring comprehensive preparation and support for events such as Field Training Exercises (FTXs) and Command Post Exercises (CPXs).
  • Create and update doctrinal training materials, including operational orders and briefings, while leading workshops as required.
  • Provide constructive feedback to unit commanders and staff through informal discussions to enhance training outcomes.
  • Contribute to the Final Exercise Report (FER) by detailing the planning, preparation, and execution of DTT events.
  • Recommend innovative LVC-G training strategies to meet evolving training needs.
  • Assist in designing and storyboarding scenario-based exercises aligned with unit training objectives.
  • Conduct thorough research on evolving military doctrine and tactics to ensure training scenarios accurately reflect operational environments.
  • Facilitate synchronization of MCTSP training capabilities leading up to and during collective training events.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations throughout all training activities.
  • Safeguard and maintain all company and government-furnished equipment and materials.
  • Coordinate safety information with government leadership to ensure a secure training environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Extensive leadership experience within the Army or Army National Guard, with a focus on training management and preferably Combat Training Center (CTC) experience.
  • Primary staff experience in the Warfighting Function (WFF) at the battalion level or higher.
  • Preferred background as a Battalion or higher commander.
  • A minimum of six years of combined staff experience within the WFF or eight years of specialized MCTSP experience.
  • Recent involvement with the Army National Guard training support system or a similar framework.
  • Two or more years of experience working within Army Command and Control Information Systems in the WFF area.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in any field is required; a Master's degree is preferred. Completion of the Command and General Staff College or equivalent military education is also preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and meet other eligibility criteria for access to classified information.
