Computational Biologist

Job Summary

The Yanxiang Deng Lab at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine is seeking a skilled and motivated bioinformatician to join our team to analyze spatial omics datasets. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the quality of sequencing data using existing tools, aggregating data into databases, creating relevant figures and statistical analyses on a per-project basis, and working with the lab members to submit sequencing data to publicly available repositories.

Key Responsibilities

• Assure the quality of sequencing data using existing tools
• Aggregate data into databases
• Create relevant figures and statistical analyses on a per-project basis
• Work with the lab members to submit sequencing data to publicly available repositories
• Create and document reusable software tools that can be used across multiple projects
• Perform data analysis to find biological patterns in a wide range of genetic and epigenetic sequencing
• Assist with employee training for routine data quality control, analysis, and visualization
• Contribute to manuscripts, reports, and grant applications based on the biological significance of each dataset

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science and 3 to 4 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
