Job Summary:

United Digestive is seeking a skilled Clinical Coding Expert to join our team. As a key member of our Revenue Cycle Management department, you will be responsible for accurate coding of services provided by our physicians, including assigning the correct ICD-10 and CPT codes.

Responsibilities:

* Accurately code services provided by United Digestive physicians
* Research difficult coding questions thoroughly to maintain high quality standards
* Provide support to management, staff, and physicians in determining accurate coding and billing practices
* Participate in coding audits and educational endeavors as directed by RCM leadership
* Maintain certification by completing required CEUs and training courses
* Stay up to date on changes and updates to the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and diagnosis codes
* Understand and abide by CMS guidelines in coding
* Meet or exceed quality and productivity standards as set by RCM leadership
* Answer emails and voicemails and return calls in a timely and efficient manner
* Complete requests for information from other United Digestive staff and ensure that they are handled promptly and effectively to guarantee payment on patient accounts
* Abide by and promote HIPAA compliance; maintain strictest confidentiality with regards to patient information
* Participate in staff meetings as directed by RCM leadership
* Participate in marketing activities as directed by RCM Leadership
* Cross train and perform other practice functions as directed by RCM Leadership
* Any other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Requirements:

* Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required
* High School Diploma or GED required; proficiency in Evaluation and Management Level of service coding required
* 2-3 years of specialty clinical experience, gastroenterology experience preferred
* Employee must be computer literate and able to operate Practice Management Software, electronic medical records system and multiple Microsoft Office applications

Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:

* Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment; travel within the Metro area required
