Capital One Data Science Internship

Capital One is seeking a highly motivated and talented PhD student to join our Data Science team as an intern for the summer of 2025. This is a full-time paid internship program that will provide you with the opportunity to work on real-world projects, collaborate with experienced data scientists, and gain valuable industry experience.

Key Role Details
  • This internship is a 10-week program that will run from June to August 2025.
  • As an intern, you will be required to work in-person at our location in the continental United States.
  • You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including data analysis, machine learning, and data visualization.
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and integrate open-source and internally-developed modeling and analytics tools using real business data.
  • Design and craft data science models to communicate solutions to customers and company leadership.
  • Collaborate with experienced data scientists to develop and implement data-driven solutions.
Requirements
  • Currently pursuing a PhD in a relevant field with an expectation of completion by August 2027 or earlier.
  • At least 6 months of experience or academic work using open-source programming languages for data analysis.
  • At least 6 months of experience or academic work using machine learning techniques.
  • At least 6 months of experience with either Python, R, or SQL.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience or academic work in inferential statistics.
  • Experience or academic work with relational databases.
  • Experience or academic work with large-scale data analysis.
