Key Responsibilities:
- Draft and contest motions, including straightforward ex parte applications and intricate motions for summary judgment.
- Collaborate with trial attorneys on motions in limine.
- Present arguments on motions and oppositions before judges.
- Engage with trial attorneys to develop case strategies.
- Conduct research and compose analyses on emerging legal issues and areas lacking clear authority.
- Facilitate discussions with defense counsel.
- Consult with experts regarding case strategies.
Required Qualifications:
- Active member in good standing with the California State Bar.
- Exceptional writing capabilities.
- Ability to swiftly identify pertinent legal authority.
- Strong understanding of the Code of Civil Procedure and Evidence Code.
- Outstanding analytical and legal research abilities.
- Proficient in discerning key facts from discovery, deposition transcripts, and other documentation, applying them to relevant case law.
- Demonstrated success in supporting and opposing dispositive motions.
- Capacity to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
