Vascular Sonographer Specialist

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Vascular Sonographer to join our team in Oak Forest, Illinois.

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Vascular Sonographer to perform a comprehensive array of sophisticated abdominal, OB/GYN, vascular, and small parts procedures. The ideal candidate will have excellent technical skills, strong communication abilities, and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.

• Perform a wide range of ultrasound and vascular procedures, including abdominal, OB/GYN, and small parts studies.
• Accurately recognize and document critical findings, such as deep vein thrombosis, ectopic pregnancy, and aortic aneurysms.
• Assist physicians during procedures, such as amniocentesis, thoracentesis, biopsies, and cath lab procedures.
• Assess arterial circulation using pulse doppler, duplex imaging, and physiologic indirect testing.
• Provide preliminary results and communicate with physicians, nursing units, and the Emergency Department as needed.
• Document patient history, images, and results for analysis and interpretation.
• Participate in the department QA program and accreditation process.
• Ensure a secure and safe patient and work environment.

• Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) within 3 months.
• Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with OB/GYN issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) within 3 months.
• Vascular Technologist (RVT) registration issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) within 3 months.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
• Associates degree in Allied Health or Bachelor of Science degree in Allied Health Science preferred.
• Typically requires 1 year experience in Abdomen and OB/GYN and 1 year experience in Vascular exams.

• Proficient skills in abdomen, OB, pelvic, endovaginal, small parts, venous doppler, carotid doppler, and arterial studies.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with established time constraints.
• Ability to communicate with patients and respond to patients in a timely manner.

The Vascular Sonographer will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, interacting with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

This is a full-time position, with a 32-hour workweek and flexible scheduling. The Vascular Sonographer will be required to work weekends, holidays, and STAT call-ins as needed to accommodate staffing needs.

The successful candidate will be able to lift and transfer patients, move ultrasound equipment for portable studies, and work in a variety of environments, including patient rooms and procedure areas.

The Vascular Sonographer will be expected to maintain a high level of technical competence, staying up-to-date with the latest ultrasound developments and professional development opportunities.
