POSITION SUMMARY:

The Aircraft Mass Properties Specialist at Piasecki Aircraft Corporation plays a crucial role in the estimation, analysis, and documentation of aircraft weight, center of gravity, and overall mass characteristics. This position necessitates collaboration with engineering teams to ensure compliance with mass properties specifications throughout various development and production stages.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct thorough analysis and documentation of mass properties, including weight, center of gravity, and inertia for aircraft components and systems.
  • Perform in-depth evaluations of weight and balance implications on aircraft performance across different design and testing phases.
  • Assist in the creation and upkeep of weight and balance documentation, such as technical reports and handbooks.
  • Support the establishment and validation of weight and balance control methodologies, including testing protocols for both in-process and finished systems.
  • Review and ensure adherence to mass properties standards, contributing insights during design evaluations and configuration management discussions.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to collect data and conduct statistical analyses of weight and balance trends across various configurations.
  • Utilize specialized software tools to model and forecast weight and balance results, presenting findings to project stakeholders.
  • Maintain precise records of mass properties metrics, ensuring all analyses align with project timelines and requirements.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:

  • Strong analytical capabilities with a background in mass properties analysis within the aerospace sector.
  • Proficiency in mass properties analysis software tools (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, MATLAB).
  • Ability to interpret and apply mathematical and geometric principles in mass properties evaluations.
  • Exceptional communication skills for preparing documentation and presenting findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Detail-oriented with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND / CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • Preferred certifications in mass properties analysis or systems engineering.
