JOB SUMMARY: The role of the Electrical Systems and Automation Lead is to manage the daily functions of the Power Shop. This position entails overseeing, fine-tuning, and diagnosing the plant's electrical systems. The individual is accountable for ensuring high availability of the supported business applications and for maintaining and troubleshooting a diverse range of systems and technologies. This role also involves participating in the formulation and execution of policies and procedures that align with company objectives, industry best practices, and regulatory standards. The Electrical Systems and Automation Lead will assist the Electrical and Automation Superintendent in daily operations, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and embodying the values of Creekstone Farms.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Support capacity planning and develop strategic goals for automated and electrical systems.

• Coordinate with Production Managers, Maintenance Managers, IT Network Managers, application owners, and external vendors to address system failures effectively.

• Supervise the upkeep of workstations, printers, scanners, cameras, scales, metal detectors, and other company equipment and electrical systems.

OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT:

• Organize and direct the work of Control Systems Technicians.

• Inspect completed tasks for compliance with specifications and standards.

• Enforce safety protocols, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and cleanliness standards.

• Ensure effective employee relations, provide coaching and development, and make employment decisions.

• Oversee training and performance appraisals of assigned staff and initiate disciplinary processes as necessary.

• Verify labor hours and ensure payroll report accuracy.

• Manage control systems, collaborating with equipment vendors and contractors.

• Troubleshoot and repair packaging and conveying systems, including PLCs, labeling equipment, metal detectors, scales, and scanners.

• Collaborate with maintenance teams to test systems connectivity and functionality.

• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to electrical distribution, motor control systems, lighting, pumps, and other subsystems essential for plant operations.

• Support application development teams throughout project life cycles.

• Analyze production and physical plant operations for reliability and cost-saving opportunities.

• Recommend and assist with plant modifications, upgrades, and equipment installations.

• Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards to support control systems procurement and development.

• Generate required reports in response to business needs.

• Participate in negotiations with vendors and contractors to secure repair parts and services.

• Maintain policies, procedures, and training plans for system administration and appropriate usage.

• Provide guidance to team members and manage accountability for performance.

• Deliver against monthly targets using leading indicator KPIs.

• Promote a culture of accountability and success within the organization.

• Assist plant managers and personnel as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Formal Education & Certification: Two to four years of equivalent work experience required. A college diploma or university degree in electrical or control systems is preferred.

Knowledge & Experience: Proficient with Microsoft, Allen Bradley, Square D, Cutler Hammer, and the National Electric Code. Strong understanding of power distribution systems, including 4160VAC, 480/277VAC, 120/208VAC, and 12-48VDC. Capable of troubleshooting hardware, software, and networking issues. Experience with work order management and maintaining configuration and process documentation. Good understanding of organizational goals and objectives.

Personal Attributes: Proven analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a diverse workforce. Proficient in reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation. Self-motivated with keen attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS: 40+-hour on-site work week with on-call availability. Requires sitting and standing for extended periods, climbing stairs and ladders, and dexterity to operate various tools. Involves occasional inspection and repair of wiring systems in varying temperature conditions and lifting moderately heavy objects.
