We are seeking a seasoned Principal Civil Engineer to lead our Northeast team in delivering high-quality multimodal transportation infrastructure projects.

This full-time position typically works a hybrid schedule of 40 hours a week, with one day a week in our Boston office and the rest remote in Providence, RI. We provide employees with the necessary equipment to work from home.

A Day in the Life of a Principal Engineer:

You will lead and mentor an interdisciplinary team to deliver multimodal transportation infrastructure in a wide range of contexts from roadway reconstructions and streetscapes in highly urban settings to signature trail projects in suburban and rural areas that highlight and enhance the natural environment. You use programs like AutoCAD in order to fulfill production work on your projects as needed and/or supervise others doing that production work. You will manage projects and guide your team through design development, design review, bid package development, permitting, and answer questions during construction. You will work with your team to ensure that our projects are consistently of the highest quality.

Requirements:

  • A Professional Engineering license with ability to obtain in RI and/or MA
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering, or relevant field
  • At least 13 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Experience serving as a project manager or design lead role
  • A broad knowledge base in civil engineering, with specific experience in roadway design, drainage design, geometric design, 3D modeling and design of accessible public spaces
  • Experience developing construction documents
  • Interest in multimodal and active transportation design
  • Experience in managing staff
  • Proficiency in Computer Automated Design (AutoCAD or MicroStation) and design software (Civil 3D, GEOPAK or InRoads)
  • Experience managing engineering projects in the Northeast
  • Experience in preparing proposals and scope/fees
  • Interest in business development

The estimated salary for this position is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
