Position Summary

The IT department at Answers in Genesis is actively seeking a Systems Engineer to deliver implementation and support for server, storage, and backup/recovery solutions across the organization. This role is pivotal in enhancing server and systems connectivity, optimizing functionalities, and ensuring robust backup and service provisions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical acumen, initiative, and a problem-solving mindset to enhance operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, troubleshoot, and enhance server-level hardware and software, including HPE servers, VMware, Windows Servers, and Active Directory.
  • Design and implement enterprise-level backup solutions utilizing tools such as Veeam or BackBlaze.
  • Develop and execute disaster recovery strategies and testing protocols.
  • Manage and troubleshoot enterprise infrastructure and cloud-based systems, including Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud.
  • Collaborate with IT management and staff to facilitate system enhancements and expansions.
  • Prioritize and manage tasks effectively.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of the technological environment, implementation procedures, and design documents.
  • Engage in outsourced and co-sourced enterprise-level IT initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications

Essential Requirements

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in storage, cloud, and server systems support.
  • Proficient in configuring and administering VMware ESXi/VSphere.
  • Experience with Pure Storage or various SAN, NAS, NFS, and vSAN environments, including capacity planning and disaster recovery.
  • Skilled in setup, configuration, and troubleshooting of Linux and Microsoft server operating systems.
  • Understanding of networking topology, SAN switches, and protocols for configuration in a multi-platform enterprise.
  • Familiarity with network systems such as firewalls, VLANs, and switches.
  • Knowledge of process-driven methodologies like ITIL or GTD is advantageous.
