About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Surveyor to join our team at NV5. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in managing and overseeing various surveying projects, ensuring the highest standards of quality and precision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert technical guidance and oversight to project teams.
  • Conduct comprehensive project research, logistics, and management to ensure timely completion and adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Review and prepare accurate legal descriptions, plats, and other survey documents in accordance with local, state, federal, and project requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety protocols, and project safety plans.
  • Perform quality control checks on each project, including computations, field book formats, and content.
  • Supervise project field crews and/or serve as a field Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) Party Chief.
  • Contribute to various survey types, including control, boundary, subdivision, heavy civil, topographic, and design surveys, as well as aerial mapping control.
  • Operate and adjust survey measuring instruments, such as digital levels, GPS equipment, and total stations with electronic data collecting capabilities.
  • Identify and understand basic sources of measurement errors.
  • Conduct mathematical calculations and verify field data.
  • Execute data reduction, field note reduction, calculations, data checks, and staking computations using survey programs and AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
Requirements
  • LSIT registration certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 8 years of surveying and mapping experience is required.
  • 3+ years of project management experience is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with effective written and oral communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in right-of-way mapping and parcel plat drafting.
  • Expertise in using total stations, GPS receivers and data collectors, and GPS reduction software.
  • Experience in AutoCAD/Civil 3D with demonstrated survey drafting skills; excellent AutoCAD/Civil 3D skills are a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand survey drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of principles of monumentation, staking, and marking.
  • Familiarity with plan checking Parcel Maps/Tract Maps is a plus.
  • Proficient with MS Word and Excel.
Certifications/Licenses
  • California PLS or LSIT License
  • Current California drivers license in good standing
