About the Job

This role is located at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, within the Medical Surgical Unit - M3. As a CNA I, you will provide direct and indirect patient care under the direction of nursing staff. Your responsibilities will include feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, or moving patients, changing linens, and transferring or transporting patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, peers, and other healthcare members to ensure successful customer outcomes and maximize unit function.
  • Precept team members on job functions and orient patients to the hospital environment and routine.
  • Document all aspects of patient care in a timely manner and participate in unit quality improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate important information and patient needs to oncoming staff during shift changes and to RNs for follow-up.
  • Provide care in accordance with the patient's plan of care, label and deliver specimens per policy, and maintain a safe environment by complying with Northern Light Health policies and procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A current registration as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the State of Maine.
  • BLS certification prior to caring for patients and maintained throughout employment.
  • One year of experience in a healthcare setting, preferred.
Working Conditions

The ideal candidate will be able to lift, move, and load 30 to 50 pounds, work alternate shift schedules (day, evening, nights, weekends), and adapt to changing priorities and ambiguity.
