Job Summary

Elgin Community College is seeking a skilled Building Maintenance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our facilities department, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our buildings and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of equipment, including boilers, chillers, and generators.
  • Conduct controlled maintenance inspections to identify and address potential issues.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations and minimize disruptions.
  • Develop and implement energy-saving initiatives to reduce utility costs.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial building maintenance.
  • Valid Illinois driver's license.
  • Ability to work at heights and in varying physical environments.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift 100lbs and work on feet for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with steam and hot water boilers.
  • Knowledge of water treatment and HVAC controls.
  • Universal EPA Refrigerant Recovery Act Certification.
