Behavioral Therapist

The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a paraprofessional who practices under the close supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA). The RBT is primarily responsible for the direct implementation of behavior analytic services, including social skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
The RBT will work with children with Autism, Social-Emotional Disabilities, and related developmental disabilities in the school setting, providing direct behavioral intervention in 1:1 and group settings. The RBT will also collect data on programs, assist with teacher and staff training, and assist the Behavior Specialist and School Psychologists with behavioral assessments as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide direct behavioral intervention in 1:1 and group settings utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training arrangements.
- Follow and record data for behavioral training protocols, collect, record, and summarize data on observable student behavior.
- Effectively communicate with school staff regarding student progress as instructed by the BCBA/BCaBA.
- Collaborate with the school team, including parents and caregivers, outside professionals, Behavior Specialist, special education administration, and co-workers.
- Assist Behavior Specialist and School Psychologists with skill acquisition and behavior reduction assessments.
- Assist with school staff training in line with student's individualized Behavior Intervention Plans.
- Assist school staff in supporting students in times of crisis.
- Acquire and maintain required certifications and technical knowledge needed for this position.
Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and possess a High School Diploma or equivalent. An Associate's (or higher) Degree or 2 years of study at an institution of higher education (48 semester hours) is also required. The candidate must be eligible to possess the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Credential through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) within 6 months of hire.
Experience working with children ages 0-16 in a classroom or 1:1 setting, as well as experience implementing the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), is highly desirable. A criminal background check and District fingerprinting are also required.
