IEP Facilitator

Charles County Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled and experienced IEP Facilitator to join our team. As an IEP Facilitator, you will play a critical role in ensuring that students with special needs receive the support and services they require to succeed.
Responsibilities:- Organize and manage the IEP process and documentation in assigned schools.
- Chair IEP Team meetings in assigned schools.
- Accept referrals at the school level and assist in gathering and organizing pertinent information for each phase of the IEP process.
- Invite appropriate participants to attend meetings and prepare and distribute agendas to relevant personnel.
- Monitor and update referrals, assessments, and other individual Special Education records.
- Knowledge of the IEP assessment timelines.
- Act as a liaison for all special education discipline-related problems when necessary.
- Assist in identifying the special needs of students and assist regular education teachers in identifying students for and preparing the referral form for consideration of special education services.
- Help interpret special education policy to public/private school-based staff and parents.
- Encourage a healthy school atmosphere through the effective use of human relation skills.
- Monitor IEPs for compliance.
- Reports to the Director for Compliance and is supported by the Director of Special Education.
- Provides guidance to school teams and administration regarding IDEA, COMAR, and MSDE policy regarding special education processes and procedures.
- Provides professional development for school teams, as appropriate.
- Participates in monthly professional learning and ongoing professional development opportunities.
- Reviews records and initiates communication with other school districts to ensure proper records are received and shared.
- Maintains the highest level of confidentiality.
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
- Hold or eligible for a Maryland Standard Professional Certificate with special education endorsement.
- Three (3) years of satisfactory special education classroom teaching experience required.
The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds.
Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard.
The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
