Position Summary:

As an Electrical Engineer specializing in avionics at AstroForge, you will be at the forefront of technological advancement, focusing on the design and development of sophisticated avionics systems and printed circuit boards (PCBs) for our spacecraft. Your responsibilities will encompass avionics design, system integration, PCB layout, component selection, and rigorous testing. A strong foundation in power subsystems, high-speed board design, and aerospace engineering principles is essential, particularly in designing for the unique challenges of space.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and design avionic subsystems, including comprehensive board and system designs.
  • Create schematic layouts and select appropriate components for spacecraft electronic systems.
  • Design and layout printed circuit boards (PCBs) to achieve optimal performance and reliability.
  • Conduct thorough testing and analysis of electronic systems to ensure they meet performance standards.
  • Utilize thermal and mechanical engineering principles to enhance system performance in space conditions.
  • Design power subsystems, focusing on power conversion, DC/DC converters, and battery management systems.
  • Implement high-speed board design techniques and demonstrate expertise in PCB layout.
  • Manage complex PCB designs with numerous components effectively.
  • Understand avionic subsystem connectivity and communication protocols such as RS422, I2C, Ethernet, and CAN.
  • Follow industry-standard protocols and best practices for aerospace design.
  • Employ design methodologies specifically tailored for space applications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in avionics design or a comparable role.
  • Proficient in schematic layout and PCB design software.
  • Strong knowledge of avionic subsystems and their interconnectivity.
  • Experience with industry-standard communication protocols and interfaces.
  • Understanding of power subsystem design principles, including battery systems and power conversion.
  • Able to collaborate effectively within a cross-functional team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective coordination and documentation.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and precision in all tasks.
  • Familiarity with aerospace design practices and considerations for space environments.
  • Willingness to work onsite.
