Job Summary

The Senior Accountant is a critical role within the accounting department at Mac Papers and Packaging, focusing on day-to-day general ledger accounting. This position is responsible for producing timely and accurate financial reports, maintaining adequate accounting records, and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger to support full-cycle accounting in a high-volume transaction environment.
  • Ensure all financial statements are issued in a timely manner and in accordance with GAAP.
  • Develop and maintain account reconciliations, taking ownership to identify and action reconciling items.
  • Evaluate accounting and business processes to strengthen controls and streamline processes.
  • Ensure proper intercompany transaction accounting and compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.
  • Support audits and tax reporting, including financial statement audits by lenders, external auditors, and tax teams.
  • Review inventories and ensure proper accounting, including establishing reserves and performing physical inventory counts.
  • Collaborate with stakeholder teams to develop necessary analysis and documentation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
  • Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.
  • Five years or more of related experience, preferably in manufacturing and/or distribution.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interface with customers and stakeholders.
  • Well-organized and self-directed, with excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to efficiently use a Windows-based computer with advanced Excel skills and demonstrated abilities using ERP systems.
Work Environment

The Senior Accountant will work under typical office conditions, with a quiet noise level. The position requires the ability to work independently with little supervision and to prioritize and complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
