About the Role

The Jackson Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our team in the Carter Lab. As a Data Scientist, you will play a critical role in researching the genetics and genomics of dementias, working with a range of biological models including cells, mice, and non-human primates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Resource Development: Design and create online data resources to disseminate bespoke research data, workflows, and results to the scientific community.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work with research team members to implement and document novel analytical workflows, and interface with academic and non-profit research partners for integrated and harmonized data sharing.
  • Cloud-Based Resource Maintenance: Liaise with experts in Information Technology to maintain cloud-based resources, and interact with users to optimize the understanding and uptake of research results.
  • Staying Current with Technologies: Maintain updated knowledge of technologies and practices that facilitate open data dissemination.
Qualifications
  • Education: B.S. in Computer Science or computational science-related field (i.e. bioinformatics, physics or mathematics).
  • Experience: Prior experience in data curation, data visualization, and R scripting, with expertise in creating custom dashboards and notebooks using RStudio/Posit or similar tools.
  • Background: Experience in genetics, genomics, and/or Alzheimer's disease research is preferred but not required.

The Jackson Laboratory offers a competitive salary range of $63,744 - $106,723, with salary determined based on qualifications and experience.
