The Finance Operations Manager plays a crucial role in supervising all activities within the finance division, encompassing financial reporting, cost management, treasury functions, and tax compliance. This position guarantees the precision and effectiveness of the organization's financial processes, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Responsibilities include leading finance personnel, ensuring prompt and precise financial disclosures, managing cash flow, and executing various administrative and employee-related functions within the division.
Core Responsibilities:
- Direct and oversee all finance operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing processes, general ledger entries, bank reconciliations, asset management, cash applications, cost assessments, and financial analysis.
- Guarantee timely and accurate financial processing, month-end closures, balance sheet reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements.
- Manage cash flow activities, including both international and domestic wire transfers, ACH transactions, and maintaining credit lines.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with banking institutions and financial partners.
- Coordinate the creation and compilation of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
- Supervise the preparation of state sales and use tax filings on a quarterly, semi-annual, or annual basis.
- Review and manage foreign currency exchange rates for financial closings.
- Lead the preparation of financial statements, bank reports, and detailed analysis reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Ensure adherence to company record retention policies.
- Collaborate with the Human Resources department regarding the recruitment and termination of finance personnel.
- Oversee and review sub-ledgers related to cash, receivables, payables, inventory, fixed assets, and cost assessments.
- Ensure the maintenance of ledger accounts, reconciliations, and documentation for monthly and fiscal year-end closures.
- Address tax-related issues and coordinate with the tax department for audits.
- Authorize financial transactions and ensure proper handling in accordance with company policies.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, and organizational procedures.
- Review, document, and implement financial systems and control procedures.
- Report critical financial activities to the CFO, including asset impairment, tax issues, and organizational restructuring.
- Conduct studies and provide recommendations for enhancing financial operations.
- Prepare and manage data collection for federal, state, and local reports and tax returns.
- Update and refine existing financial policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with the CFO and other management for long-term strategic profit planning.
- Act as a liaison between the organization and the parent company on financial matters.
- Conduct and manage financial statement audits and special projects as assigned by the CFO.
Supervisory Duties:
- Lead a team within the finance division.
Educational Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is mandatory.
Experience Requirements:
- Extensive experience in finance, combining education with practical experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of managerial experience in finance or accounting is essential.
- Experience managing a team of 5 or more staff is preferred.
- Experience in the automotive sector and JSOX management is advantageous.
- Advanced proficiency in spreadsheet software (MS Excel) and handling large datasets is required.
- Intermediate or advanced skills in databases (MS Access) and word processing (MS Word) are beneficial.
Licenses/Certifications:
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) certification is required.
Skills & Competencies:
- Expertise in managing complex financial functions and systems.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and IFRS standards.
- Ability to read and interpret financial documents, IRS codes, safety regulations, and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present information effectively.
- Bilingual skills in English and Japanese are a plus.
Additional Requirements:

- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Experience with large datasets and advanced Excel functionalities.
- Familiarity with financial software and ERP systems.
Language Proficiency:
- Proficiency in English is required; bilingual ability in Japanese is a plus.
Additional Information:
- This role necessitates collaboration across various departments and may involve occasional travel.
