Job Title: Packaging Operator

We are seeking a skilled Packaging Operator to join our team at Amcor Rigid Packaging. As a Packaging Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining multiple injection molding machines to produce and audit PET plastic preforms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate multiple injection molding machines using written work instructions, visual management, and computer interface.
  • Conduct 1 & 3 quality inspections using specific written and visual guidelines.
  • Complete Avid quality checks Monday-Friday.
  • Monitor operations of injection molding machine to detect machine malfunctions.
  • Know and practice safe and proper start-up and shut-down procedures for each machine.
  • Stop machines and production to report malfunctions and perform minor adjustments to correct improper functions.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed in accordance with Amcor Rigid Packaging USA Inc. safety requirements.
  • Create, scan and consume production tickets using computer interface.
  • Accurately complete all logs, data input and written, to include hourly checks and downtime.
  • Create process sheets.
  • Remove any damaged material from machine.
  • Create scrap and regrind tickets.
  • Assemble Gaylord boxes to be used for storage and transport of finished product.
  • Drops down and erects buckhorns.
  • Follow and adhere to all Food Safety requirements within the plant.
  • Actively participate in Quality training and Good Manufacturing Practice meetings to assist in continuous improvement of plant operations.
  • Operate pallet jack and forklift to move finished product from machine to the staging area.
  • Effectively communicate with all internal departments.
  • Grind defective PET performs and consume regrind into blender.
  • Complete blender percent verifications.
  • Turn in tickets for resin consumption, regrind, tickets that were consumed, voids to materials group.
  • Place product on HFI.
  • Backtrack quality defense.
  • Maintain a clean work area and maintain injection machines using the weekly/monthly/quarterly/semi-annual/annual housekeeping in RealSPC.
  • Verify the process to ensure machine is running best in class.
  • Cover for breaks for other coworkers, including maintenance.
  • Report downtime into Facility Management System (FMS).
  • Complete shift reports.
  • Complete verifications of piece count.
  • Complete resin truck log.
  • Check product receipts for warehouse.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by the Shift Supervisor/Production Manager.
Requirements:
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of experience in a high speed manufacturing environment.
  • Basic mathematic skills.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Travel 10% to Fort Worth Plant for training.
