Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Safety Officer to join our team at the Coast Community College District. As a Public Safety Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors on our campuses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively monitor campus activity to ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and authorized visitors.
  • Enhance day-to-day customer relations by providing information and assistance to students, staff, and visitors.
  • Convey college policy, rules, and expectations for student conduct.
  • Anticipate and intervene in potential and actual incidents where students and/or property may be at risk of harm or damage.
  • Protect campus property and facilities by making inspections and ensuring accessible usage of security features.
  • Respond to complaints, incidents, and hazardous situations.
  • Provide security at District and campus functions as required.
  • Detect and report fire hazards and respond to fire and burglar alarms.
  • Cooperate with other law enforcement agencies in matters relating to the apprehension of offenders and the investigation of offenses.
  • Enforce campus parking regulations and issue parking citations.
Requirements
  • A High School diploma or equivalent, 21 years of age, and two years of security/surveillance experience.
  • Specialized training in security, safety, and behavior intervention.
  • Experience in campus safety and/or law enforcement is preferred.
  • Successful completion of an approved POST-certified Regular Basic Course (664-hour minimum basic academy).
  • A valid California driver's license and current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
