Our mission is to provide programs and services that support individuals with cerebral palsy, autism, down syndrome, epilepsy, intellectual delay, and other disabilities.
Job SummaryWe are seeking a Respite Worker to provide intermittent, regular scheduled, temporary care and supervision for clients who reside with family members or care providers in the Menifee area. As a Respite Worker, you will work closely with families to provide support and care, enabling them to maintain stability and independence.
Key Responsibilities- Provide responsible care and support to clients, enabling families to maintain stability and independence.
- Work a minimum of two hours at each respite appointment, providing care and supervision as needed.
- Follow instructions for the care of clients and siblings as outlined by parent(s)/guardian(s).
- Assist clients with daily living tasks, such as feeding, dressing, toileting, bathing, grooming, and light meal preparation.
- Use safety precautions at all times when providing care to clients and siblings.
- Report suspected incidents of abuse to the Respite Program Manager and complete required documentation.
- Maintain certification of CPR and First Aid at all times, with current copies on file in the office.
- Adhere to policies and procedures outlined in the employee handbook and respite fundamental training manual.
- Adhere to UCPIE's Injury and Illness Prevention Plan and all other applicable safety procedures.
- Report any changes in personal information to the Respite Program Manager immediately.
- Complete and submit time cards, mileage, reports, and other required documentation using UCPIE's timekeeping and case management software.
- Complete client daily notes and submit them to UCPIE administrative offices as instructed by the Respite Program Manager.
- Maintain current information on emergency call forms and submit copies to UCPIE office.
- Return phone calls to the UCPIE administrative team within 24 hours or immediately if an emergency message is received.
- Do not transport clients or siblings at any time.
- Continue education through training modules, workshops, annual UCPIE in-house training, and other professional development opportunities.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- At least two years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Computer proficiency.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- A clean TB test every four years.
- A valid driver's license.
- A valid vehicle registration.
- A valid vehicle insurance policy.
- A clear security clearance through the FBI and DOJ.
- Legally eligible to work in the U.S.A.
This position requires community driving and visiting families in a variety of home settings. You will need to be able to lift, pull, push, run, and manipulate adaptive equipment and patients, which requires strength and gross motor and fine motor coordination.
TravelThis job requires daily travel to the client's home, with travel not exceeding 40 miles unless approved by the Respite Program Manager.
