Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Respite Worker to provide intermittent, regular scheduled, temporary care and supervision for individuals with developmental disabilities in the Indio area. As a Respite Worker, you will work closely with families and caregivers to provide support and assistance with daily living activities, ensuring the well-being and safety of our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide responsible care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities in their homes or community settings.
  • Assist with daily living activities, such as feeding, dressing, toileting, bathing, grooming, and light meal preparation.
  • Follow instructions and guidelines provided by parents/guardians and UCPIE staff.
  • Use safety precautions at all times when providing care and support.
  • Report any incidents or concerns to the Respite Program Manager.
  • Maintain certification of CPR and First Aid at all times.
  • Adhere to UCPIE's policies and procedures, including the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years' experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Valid driver's license and vehicle insurance.
  • Clear security clearance and eligibility to work in the U.S.A.

Work Environment

This position requires community driving and visiting families in various home settings. The Respite Worker will work independently, but will also be part of a team that provides support and guidance.

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this position include lifting, pulling, pushing, running, and manipulating adaptive equipment and patients. The employee must be able to perform CPR and administer First Aid. The position requires sitting and/or standing for long periods of time and the ability to operate an automobile and computer.

Travel

This job requires daily travel to clients' homes, with travel not exceeding 40 miles unless approved by the Respite Program Manager.
