Job Summary:

Telcom Construction Inc is seeking a skilled Traveling Equipment Operator to join our team. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy equipment on various job sites, including trenching and digging equipment, plows, backhoes, and rock saws.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate heavy equipment on job sites, following safety protocols and procedures
  • Install and maintain underground fiber optic and telecommunications cabling service lines
  • Restore and landscape disturbed areas of job sites
  • Dig pits, trenches, and potholes as directed by job plans
  • Set up and clean up job sites, including loading and unloading tools and materials
  • Ensure safety perimeters are set up using signage, cones, and safety barriers

Requirements:

  • Valid CDL with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to read and understand work orders, safety rules, and operating instructions
  • Basic ability to use small tools and hand tools
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve
  • Must be safety-conscious and able to effectively communicate with crew, customers, and vendors

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous construction experience or utility construction experience
  • Ability to read prints and interpret utility maps to identify underground utilities

Physical Requirements:

  • Climb into and out of equipment
  • Lift and carry 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds as needed
  • Stand, crouch, sit, bend, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms
  • Work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, and a hard hat
