The City of Victoria is seeking a highly skilled Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to join our team. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our wastewater treatment plants and lift stations.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain wastewater treatment plants and lift stations to ensure compliance with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) regulations.
- Monitor and adjust treatment processes to ensure optimal performance and minimize environmental impact.
- Conduct regular testing and analysis of wastewater samples to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on treatment plant equipment to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operation of our wastewater treatment system.
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance treatment efficiency and reduce costs.
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders, including responding to customer complaints and conducting tours of the treatment plant.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in environmental science, engineering, or related field preferred.
- At least three years of experience in wastewater treatment plant operations, with a focus on process control and maintenance.
- Grade C Wastewater Operators Certification issued by the TCEQ required.
- Valid Texas Class B Commercial driver's license with air brake and tanker endorsements preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on safety and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
