Job Title: Solar Design Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Solar Design Engineer to join our team at Freedom Forever, a leading residential solar company. As a key member of our Construction Engineering team, you will be responsible for creating buildable solar designs that meet all municipality, utility, and financing requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design rooftop or ground-mount photovoltaic systems using Aurora, BrightPath, and/or Everbright software.
  • Identify factors that may affect project scope, cost, and installation complexity.
  • Create and maintain construction plans using AutoCAD and internal design tools.
  • Determine optimal point of interconnection based on existing electrical infrastructure and conditions.
  • Complete electrical load calculations to determine feasibility of various electrical scopes of work.
  • Manage regional pipeline of Construction Engineering tasks, including new projects, revisions, and tickets.
  • Collaborate with Regional Branches to establish rapport and direct line of communication between Engineering and Field Operations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) or similar degree.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional design experience in the solar industry.
  • Experience with AutoCAD (or equivalent) and permitting processes with local authorities.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well unsupervised.
