We are looking for a dedicated and skilled individual to take on the role of a Facilities Maintenance Specialist. This position involves working flexible shifts, including mornings and evenings, to ensure the smooth operation of our facilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in engineering and maintenance, particularly within the hospitality sector, and have a thorough understanding of pool maintenance.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for the upkeep and repair of the hotel's mechanical and electrical systems, as well as the overall maintenance of the property, including furniture, fixtures, and the surrounding grounds.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This summary outlines the primary duties and qualifications for the role. It is not exhaustive and may evolve over time based on operational needs.

  • Diagnose and repair issues in mechanical and electrical systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing) and other equipment throughout the facility.
  • Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the swimming pool, including chemical adjustments and filter cleaning, while maintaining accurate logs.
  • Enhance the property's exterior appearance through lawn care, painting, and landscaping.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to safety and security protocols.
  • Understand and implement fire prevention and emergency procedures.
  • Utilize appropriate protective equipment.
  • Report any unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
  • Document accidents, injuries, and property damage as necessary.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by following established safety procedures.
  • Present a neat and professional appearance in accordance with company standards.
  • Assist fellow engineering team members as required.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS

Westmont Group values a combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for this role.
  • Familiarity with various maintenance trades, including basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry skills.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for the operation and repair of hotel equipment.
  • Ability to identify potential safety hazards and respond appropriately.
  • Willingness to adhere to hotel policies regarding appearance, safety, and emergency procedures.
  • Proficiency in multiple areas such as HVAC, electrical work, carpentry, drywall, painting, plumbing, roofing, and landscaping.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair common mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Experience with hand and power tools, along with knowledge of relevant parts and materials.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent education is preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the facility layout, including guest rooms and common areas.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to listen, speak, read, and write in English clearly.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Capability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods while performing essential job functions.
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions and perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Visual and auditory acuity to detect emergency situations.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders quickly, reaching heights of up to 30 feet.
  • Physical strength to lift and move objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Frequent engagement in activities such as twisting, bending, reaching, and maintaining a friendly demeanor.
