The Cedars-Sinai Applied Genomics, Computation, and Translational Core (AGCT Core) is a cutting-edge genomics facility that provides data generation and interpretation for both basic science and translational research utilizing next-generation sequencing technologies. Our expertise includes single cell omics, spatial transcriptomics, and bulk cell omics.
As a Biomedical Technician within the Genomics Core, you will engage in both wet and dry laboratory projects, ensuring compliance with all Federal and State accrediting agency requirements and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct assigned wet lab tasks, maintain laboratory environments, and accurately document controlled documents.
- Perform all activities in strict accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and assist the quality control team as needed.
- Install and maintain laboratory equipment to guarantee optimal functionality.
- Engage in project-specific process development tasks for various clients while adhering to SOPs.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation in laboratory notebooks, data records, SOPs, and batch records.
- Draft and update standard operating procedures and manage the computer database.
- Verify and log samples received, ensuring proper transport to designated storage areas in compliance with SOPs.
- Oversee lab equipment maintenance and related documentation.
- Prepare cGMP production rooms, manage material inventories, and place orders for necessary equipment and supplies.
- Assist in operating specialized equipment and machinery, ensuring adherence to regulatory guidelines and safety standards.
- Understand and execute all aspects of NGS library sequencing, including library QC analysis and determining sequencing run parameters.
- Consult with technical support regarding library preparation or sequencing run performance issues.
- Troubleshoot library preparation, sequencing, and equipment challenges.
- Utilize iLab for laboratory information management and billing, and LabArchives as an electronic laboratory notebook.
- Employ Trello for project tracking and work scheduling.
- Assess reagent kits based on sample quality and concentration.
- Receive, store, and document samples appropriately.
- Report results and project updates regularly during lab meetings.
Applicants should possess an Associate Degree in biology, biochemistry, or a related science/engineering field, with a Bachelor's degree preferred. A minimum of one year of experience in an aseptic environment, including work with human and animal tissues, is required. Additionally, candidates should have one year of experience in maintaining and utilizing biomedical equipment for testing.
