About the Role:
The Rapid City Journal, a leading news organization in western South Dakota, is on the lookout for a motivated and innovative journalist to establish a dedicated focus on education and school-related topics. This full-time position in our digital-first newsroom offers a chance to cover daily news, investigate policy decisions affecting families and children in South Dakota, and delve into trends surrounding literacy and education.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a beat centered on education, including two K-12 public school districts and South Dakota School of Mines.
- Produce engaging stories that highlight the experiences of teachers and students.
- Build relationships within the community to enhance reporting and connect readers with vital local issues.
- Write with authority and clarity to inform and engage our audience.
