The Cloud FinOps Subject Matter Expert (SME) will support client teams in grasping the FinOps framework and offer strategic advice on enhancing the organization’s FinOps capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and advocate for best practices in managing cloud infrastructure costs.
  • Collaborate with finance, procurement, and engineering teams to effectively assess and control cloud infrastructure expenditures. Utilize public cloud technology tools to promote FinOps methodologies.
  • Develop analytical models that deliver data-driven insights regarding cloud infrastructure spending.
  • Design utilization and forecasting models to anticipate future cloud infrastructure costs and usage patterns.
  • Generate and maintain comprehensive internal documentation on FinOps practices and cost optimization strategies.
  • Keep abreast of the latest trends and advancements in cloud financial management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Finance, or a related discipline; or equivalent professional experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen with a Top-Secret clearance.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with Azure, AWS, GCP, and/or Oracle cloud services.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a Department of Defense (DoD) or Federal Government setting.
  • Thorough understanding of Cloud Service Provider (CSP) FinOps tools.
  • Proficiency in relational databases, data extraction, and analytical tools.
  • Familiarity with Federal Government IT procurement procedures.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices regarding cloud resource tagging and automation of tagging enforcement.
  • Experience as a Cloud Financial Operations (FinOps) professional in a comparable role.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in an Air Force IT environment is preferred.
