Job Summary

The MRI Imaging Specialist is responsible for conducting imaging procedures in line with established departmental protocols. This role requires proficiency in operating MRI machines and related equipment, ensuring high-quality imaging results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and confirm imaging requests for each patient, addressing any discrepancies with the referring physician.
  • Ensure accurate patient identification and provide a thorough explanation of the imaging process to patients.
  • Gather comprehensive medical histories from patients and review relevant electronic medical records.
  • Administer IV contrast materials as per departmental guidelines and document accordingly.
  • Evaluate the quality of images produced and consult with radiologists as necessary.
  • Provide basic patient care and monitor any changes in patient conditions during procedures.
  • Assist in emergency situations, including life support measures and code blue protocols.
  • Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to safety protocols during invasive procedures.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with radiation safety standards for all staff and patients.

Physical Requirements

This position requires moderate to heavy physical activity, including lifting and moving patients and equipment. The role may involve standing, walking, and other physical movements throughout the day.

Education and Qualifications

Applicants must have completed an accredited two-year program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology or be actively enrolled in a qualifying program. Certification in Radiologic Technology and advanced MRI registry is required within the first year of employment. CPR certification is also mandatory.
