Job Summary

The MRI Technologist I is responsible for performing procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. This includes operating MRI scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Examines requests and verifies orders on each assigned patient, referring and questioning orders to the Radiologist as necessary.
  • Properly identifies patients and assists them during procedures, explaining the process and documenting on appropriate worksheets.
  • Interviews patients for a complete medical history, reviewing EMRs to obtain pertinent clinical information and recording medical history on requisitions.
  • Assumes responsibility for the exam from beginning to completion, preparing and administering IV contrast as needed.
  • Evaluates technical quality of images and consults with a Radiologist if necessary, recognizing abnormal anatomy and processing additional images as instructed.
  • Performs basic patient care functions, informing nursing personnel of any changes in the patient's condition and initiating life support measures as needed.
  • Practices principle of radiation safety for self, employees, patients, and family members, following appropriate radiation safety standards.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited two-year AMA-approved program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology or active enrollment in a ARMRIT or ARRT registry-eligible program.
  • ARRT certification in Radiologic Technology, ARRT or NMTCB for Nuclear Medicine with advanced registry from the ARMRIT or ARRT in MRI required within one year of hire.
  • CPR certification required.
