Dietary Aide Job Description

The Dietary Aide plays a vital role in the Dietary Department, performing designated work and cleaning routines to ensure the highest level of patient care and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the cook in meal preparation and service, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of meals to patients.
  • Perform cleaning duties as scheduled, maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Set up the dining room and assist with serving meals, providing excellent customer service to patients and their families.
  • Assist with snack, salad, and dessert preparation, ensuring a variety of healthy options for patients.
  • Complete side work and opening/closing duties, ensuring the Dietary Department is prepared for the next day.
  • Attend departmental and in-service educational programs, staying up-to-date on the latest food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Requirements:
  • Entry-level position - will train
  • Previous experience in food service in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Valid Nevada Food Handler Certification or in the process of obtaining
  • Basic food knowledge and ability to prepare food combinations that add interest, contrast, and variety to a menu
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in different environmental temperatures and weather conditions
  • Ability to interact with various patients and co-workers, providing excellent customer service
