Job Overview

The Dietary Aide performs a variety of food service functions in maintaining clean and sanitary conditions of food service areas, facilities, and equipment. The Aide also prepares and serves "heat and serve" meals and snacks.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Handles food and equipment according to sanitation policies and procedures
  2. Sets up trays for meals
  3. Delivers and retrieves food to and from patient's area
  4. Processes soiled trays, dishes and utensils through dishwasher
  5. Operates equipment in a safe manner
  6. Reports any discrepancies in his/her area to department supervisor
  7. Controls use of soap and cleaning agents in dishwasher
  8. Returns clean items to appropriate places
  9. Washes other food preparation equipment as necessary
  10. Maintains cleanliness and sanitation through entire work areas
  11. Performs daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures
  12. Cleans and sanitizes equipment
  13. Empties trash containers regularly
  14. Prepares snacks and beverages between-meal service to patients
  15. When needed, prepares nutritional supplements and tube feeding products and delivers to patient's area
  16. Reports malfunctioning equipment to the department supervisor

Ensures that patients and families receive the highest quality of service in an attentive and responsive atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights

Additional Job Functions
  1. Maintain dietary storage areas in a neat and orderly manner according to established standards
  2. Other clerical duties as assigned
  3. Concierge services as assigned
  4. Travel to all facility locations as required
  5. Attend staff meetings or other company sponsored or mandated meetings as required
  6. Perform additional duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED, required

Food Handler Safety Training Certificate, required

Minimum of 2 years hospital food service, required

Experience using dishwashing equipment is helpful

Position requires fluency in English; written and oral communication
