Kleinfelder presents an exciting opportunity for a Lead Archaeologist and Project Supervisor to become part of our Northern California cultural resources division.

We are offering a competitive sign-on bonus for this position.

This is a full-time role.

Ideal candidates will possess a minimum of six years of relevant experience in California's cultural resource management, including hands-on fieldwork.

Applicants must be adept at collaborating with a team of professionals in a dynamic environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Office responsibilities encompass project oversight, proposal and contract preparation, peer review of internal cultural documents, mentoring junior personnel, coordinating with archaeological field teams, reviewing field documentation such as survey and monitoring reports, completing and verifying site record forms, and delivering high-quality outputs to our clients.

Field responsibilities may involve occasional travel for pedestrian surveys, construction oversight, and documenting cultural resources in situ. We have the flexibility to consider various locations within Northern California.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Demonstrated experience in managing cultural resources projects within California is essential.

Ability to independently identify prehistoric and historic cultural resources.

A minimum of six years of progressive experience, including involvement in cultural resources field projects in California.

Exceptional interpersonal communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.

Strong writing abilities and clarity in documentation while conducting fieldwork.

Capacity to communicate effectively and respond promptly in both field and office settings.

Proficient phone communication skills and familiarity with Microsoft Teams, Slack, and Microsoft Outlook for remote work.

Experience working on state and federal lands is required.

Prior experience with Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) projects is highly advantageous.

In-depth knowledge of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

Experience coordinating with Native American Tribes and land management agencies is necessary.

Proficiency in MS Office (Word and Excel) and Google Earth.

Familiarity with digital field technologies (GPS, total station, iPad, etc.) and GIS software applications. Previous experience with Collector is a plus.

Experience in preparing site record forms, monitoring logs, and survey report forms.

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Capability to lead a team and delegate tasks effectively.

A valid driver's license is mandatory.

Must maintain a satisfactory driving record and undergo a background check.

Educational Background:
A graduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a closely related discipline is required.

Salary Range:
$71,626 - $119,399.
